Tapping

 

Emotional Freedom Technique or tapping is one of my primary self-help tools. It’s especially helpful once you identify a specific belief you want to adopt or change. But it’s also very effective to just feel better really fast. When I am really freaking out, tapping is my go-to emergency tool. It’s the big guns.

I learned about tapping over three years ago when my therapist at the time recommended I try it. I was dating a really good guy (still am) and his love and loyalty triggered my abandonment/betrayal issues. So, I tapped on it for 15 minutes per day for two weeks. Incredibly, that part of me just dissolved. I have never felt those fears since. Literally. I thought they were tattooed on my soul. Apparently not. The world became less threatening and I was no longer in a state of reliving old wounds.
