Mistakes are badges of honor

I always have a WONDERFUL time playing concerts, in real life especially, but also on zoom.

It’s such a pure connection.

I love being in the audience at concerts too, two sides of the same coin. There’s a magical energy, a potent presence that happens when people listen to music someone is making for them.

To share a song I wrote is to share a chapter of my life and all the lessons I learned, how I felt, and what it means. It’s more than just information, it’s the feeling.

I open a portal into my own heart and shine the light onto whoever’s heart is open to receive it. It’s fucking M A G I C A L.

One of the things that makes it magical is also one of the things that stops people from looking for magic — the RISK. It’s so risky to open your heart for everyone to potentially judge and reject.

What kind of psycho wouldn’t protect the precious gift (song) they’re given? It’s not about that though — in this case fear is an ego game.

The soul who made the art KNOWS that happiness shared is happiness exponentially multiplied. Your beautiful, radiant, loving soul wants to share the joy it found! In a way, that’s what art is. I think that’s what it should be anyway ;)

So, yes, I always have a wonderful time. BUT- I also always - literally A L W A Y S - mess up. Every single show I mess something up. I play a wrong chord, I say a word weird, or I forget the words all together… There are SO many potential mistakes to be made when you’re bearing your soul.

And so what?

Let’s just decide to accept the TRUTH:

Mistakes are badges of HONOR.

If you’re doing everything perfectly then you’re not challenging yourself. That’s so boring!

What is the point of that? You’re not doing anyone any favors by playing small.

Every time you’re brave, you lift us all up!

Tap into whatever happiness is available to you

Sometimes the happiness we want is not available to us right now. But there is always a happiness available to us, from wherever we are. It’s just about finding it.

Last week I broke down my song, Me & Mine and the two types of “high vibe freedom” that the song highlights.

The two types are basically:

1) happiness through connection and

2) happiness through solitude (another type of connection).

I used to be the total victim of my circumstances. Often, what I wanted did not match what was happening and it bummed me the F out. I felt like I had no control.

The unfortunate thing is, we humans can find ourselves wanting the one type of happiness when the other type is the only one available to us. “The grass is always greener on the other side.”

What a pain in the ass. But there’s a solution.

Life is all about turning lemons into lemonade. That’s one of the main lessons for all of us, I think we can all agree? That’s what this comes down to. I’m so sorry to have to tell you this. It’s such a bummer. BUT at the same time, it’s such a relief.

You can always look for the particular type of happiness that is available to you at any given moment. What you seek you shall find. It’s a great shortcut.

It all starts in your imagination, imagining yourself happy. You + something = happy now.

It’s just about figuring out what that something could be. What other ingredients are you working with?

Maybe you have annoying people around you so the only missing ingredient is boundaries or physical distance.

Or maybe you feel lonely so the only missing ingredient is a peaceful feeling, which you could find in nature.

Another place you can find whatever ingredient you’re missing…. You know what I’m gonna say… MUSIC!!

Music is the totally underrated missing ingredient - it’s an answer to all sorts of questions.

So tell me, what song is YOUR answer to happiness right now?

For me it’s Moi Je Joue by Brigitte Bardot, and of COURSE my new song Me & Mine
